Create Replica Database by Lotus Script

In Lotus Notes Client, we can create new replica by manual but it was a lot of databases, decided to create a copy of our agents to run. But we are not a copy, a replica. We, NotesDatabase.CreateCopy method (it only copies the design) does not copy the documents found. Our method can not obtain a handle to all documents in the source database are copied to the destination database that could have been. But instead we had to use another approach.  Then we have a unique replica and create a new replica ID of the database decided to change. This creates a copy of the database.

Track Who Replicated Deleted Documents Back to Lotus Notes Database?

Has this ever happened to you: all of a sudden you see thousands of documents that were deleted months ago back in your application. Just about everyone I know who has created an application with local replicas has seen this happen. And everyone who has seen it wants to find out who did it so they can give them 20 lashes with a wet noodle. (Or at least a replication lesson).

Way to use Soft Deletes And Response Documents

We’ve used soft deletes before, but never with response documents. So when our first project asking for that came about, it was time for some testing. And just like regular deletes can result in orphan documents, recovering soft-deleted documents can result in orphan documents. For example, let’s say you’ve soft-deleted a document and its parent.

If you restore the child, then the parent is still soft-deleted, so the child becomes an orphan in production. Conversely, if you restore the parent and not the child, that child, although not an orphan, might not be visible to your “deleted documents” views depending on how they were set up, so it might not be possible to restore that child.

How to Check Users Replicate database

With a distributed application like Notes, one of the problems is that someone can have a local replica and not replicate for a while. This can cause problems like previously deleted documents reappearing, or replication conflicts. This tip describes one way of reminding users to replicate at least somewhat frequently. If the user hasn’t replicated in a week or more, they are reminded to replicate so they’ll have the latest information.
